BBC micro:bit V2 features a faster ARM Cortex-M4 processor (nRF52833), integrated 2.4 GHz radio and Bluetooth 5.0, built-in MEMS microphone, speaker, and touch-sensitive logo button for intuitive sound and touch interaction. It includes a motion sensor combining a 3-axis accelerometer and magnetometer (usable as a compass or magnetic field sensor). RAM has increased from 16 KB to 128 KB, and flash memory from 256 KB to 512 KB, significantly expanding capabilities. The CPU is upgraded from a 16 MHz Cortex-M0 to a 64 MHz Cortex-M4 with floating-point unit. Gold-edge connectors feature small indentations for secure crocodile clip attachment during prototyping. The board can supply up to 200 mA to accessories (up from 90 mA in V1). Touch sensing adds a third input method alongside the two programmable buttons. Designed by the BBC to support computing education for students aged 7 and up, the board includes a 5×5 LED matrix, two user-programmable buttons, compass, USB interface, Bluetooth module, and more — all in a compact 5 × 4 cm form factor. The V2 adds a touch-sensitive logo and MEMS microphone on the front, plus a speaker on the back for audio output without external components. The edge connector includes a gear-like design to improve alligator clip retention. Sleep mode is supported — activated by long-pressing the reset button — to reduce power consumption.
