Clean the thread plug gauge and the measured thread before use. Remove any dirt or impurities. Hold the gauge with the thumb and forefinger and rotate it to ensure the thread engages freely over the full length. Measurement cannot be accurate if this condition is not met. 2. After verification by authorized inspection and metrology institutions, mate the thread plug gauge with the measured thread. Rotate the gauge using the thumb and forefinger.
