Clamp the tool with the silver tang behind the block and the toe under the fine tuner plate. Snug it into place. 5. Loosen the saddle screw for the string you’re adjusting. 6. Check tuning: If the fretted note at the 12th fret is sharp, tighten the tool’s screw to move the saddle back. If it’s flat, loosen the screw to move the saddle forward. Retune and repeat until the open string and 12th fret note match.
