Do not be fooled by cheap kits with "adjustable diverter valves" which only get you into trouble. The correct way to adjust the diverter valve is via the internal spring only. Installation of the kit takes approximately 20 minutes. All you have to do is replace the main charge tube with a new silicone unit, plug in the new boost/vacuum connector, and connect the RPM bleed valve. This kit places your new valve behind the cab access panel so you can easily access it behind you. As you can see from the pictures, unlike other cheaper kits, the valve is also protected from mud and debris in this position! The purpose of a diverter valve isn't just to sound cool, but it's designed to relieve pressure that builds up on the charge side of the system. With nowhere to go, the pressure can cause turbulence in the impeller, which slows the turbine shaft and causes premature wear. By installing a blow-off valve, you can improve boost response, extend the life of your turbo, and of course, get that cool swirling sound! The X3's turbo system apparently doesn't come stock with an exhaust valve or diverter valve, so if you want to install an exhaust valve on your X3, there's nowhere to do it! This kit is designed to connect the compressor side of the turbocharger to the plastic charge tube of the intercooler. Its smooth design helps reduce turbulence.
