These magnesium anode rods function by attracting corrosive elements in the water, similar to aluminum anodes, providing protection against corrosion and helping to prolong the lifespan of your water heater tank. The anode rod sacrifices itself over time to protect the tank. If the rod becomes significantly depleted or fully corroded, the tank may begin to rust, crack, fail, or leak. This magnesium anode rod measures 4.5 inches (115mm) in length, 0.5 inch (13mm) in diameter, with 1/2-inch threads, and is designed to fit Atwood water heaters. Use with: Atwood water heaters. To inspect or replace, unscrew the anode rod when draining the tank. If the rod is mostly corroded, replace it. It is recommended to keep a spare on hand in your RV.
