The automatic adjusters can back out when the throttle is closed suddenly at high RPM. This allows the cams to go momentarily out of time, which may result in bent valves or engine damage. Hydraulic tensioners can apply excessive tension on the chain guide under high RPM and high oil pressure conditions, leading to premature wear. Both issues can be resolved by installing a manual tensioner. Regardless of engine operation, cam chain tension remains constant. A manual cam chain tensioner is recommended for performance riding applications. Manual tensioners are CNC machined from billet aluminum to precise tolerances for accurate fit and reliable performance.
